Fell Skiing in Sarek National Park 2026

Join us for a 10-day fell skiing hike

Join us on a downhill skiing hike in northern Sweden to the Sarek wilderness area.

The purpose is to offer you downhill skiing experiences in the middle of wonderful nature, to teach you how to hike in the fells, to use downhill skiing for 2 – 3 days of telemark and fitness for 30 – 40 hours over the course of a couple of weeks. The purpose of the ski trip I organize is not to go far or to pull big loads, but to offer the opportunity to come along and experience something new and learn new skills.

Sarek is a completely unique wilderness area. I went downhill skiing in Sarek for two weeks in 2005, after which I have mainly downhill skied in Kilpisjärvi, Pallas and Soutaja, several times. Now I thought of offering a downhill skiing hike in Sarek, where the best weather and skiing conditions are in April-May. Sometimes you can ski there also in June, but then you have to be prepared to carry skis.

I expect you to have basic camping skills and know how to take care of yourself well during summer camping and basic things during winter camping (skiing, setting up a tent, preparing food, sleeping). It sounds easy, but in arctic conditions, experience brings skill and speed. Quick morning activities in the winter wilderness easily take 2 to 3 hours. My guidance offers above all safety and learning new skills outside the street lights in the arctic wilderness.

The ski hike is paced in such a way that after about two days of skiing we count the day’s telemark or alternatively you can stay at the tent base to rest, cook food and take photos as a memory. If you had to choose which kind of vacation can recharge your batteries the fastest, downhill skiing in Sarek and Kilpisjärvi is equivalent to a couple of months of vacation. When you are isolated for a while in the middle of the wilderness, and completely free in nature, you get a new perspective on everyday life. Fresh air and exercise are good and it’s refreshing to go back to work.

If this sounds like you, sign up.
